At what height should a bidet faucet be installed?

Although until recently the bidet was not a common sanitary device in our bathroom, fortunately, this trend is starting to change. Despite the fact that many still see it as unnecessary equipment that just takes up a lot of space, household members are increasingly appreciating the comfort and hygiene associated with having a bidet. But is it really an essential solution, and if so, how should the bidet be installed - what distance from the toilet bowl and at what height? Read on, and we will answer these questions.

Bidet faucet - how many cm above the floor?

To use a bidet, an appropriate space is needed that allows for free movement. The bidet should be at least 30 cm away from the toilet bowl. This is a necessary minimum, and unfortunately, in smaller bathrooms, bidets are often installed too close to the toilet. Bathroom users opt for such a solution while significantly limiting their movements and reducing comfort. It should be remembered that even in smaller bathrooms, at least 30 cm should be allocated for this gap. Moreover, if older people or those with mobility difficulties will be using the bidet, this gap should be significantly larger - in that case, the distance from the toilet should be between 50 and 60 cm.

Determining the height at which bidet faucets are installed can be an individual matter, depending on the height of household members. Typically, the installation height is recommended to be 40 cm. This distance is measured from the floor. For older people or those with mobility difficulties, this height can be increased to 50 centimeters. It is natural that taller individuals will want to increase this height. Ultimately, the height from the floor at which the bidet should be located should allow for easy washing for individuals ranging from 170 cm to 180 cm tall. If any of the household members are significantly taller, a more comfortable solution might be to install the bidet at a slightly greater height.

Stylistic Harmony

One should not forget about the free space in front of the bidet. This should measure about 60 cm. It is customary to install the bidet right next to the toilet. This is related to practicality. It is also a nod towards aesthetics, as a bidet situated right next to the toilet looks most impressive. Manufacturers offer various bidets, allowing one to choose from two main types: standing bidets and wall-mounted ones.

The most reasonable solution seems to be to match the style of the bidet bowl to that of the toilet bowl. Both should be kept in the same style to create harmony among them. This solution will not only ensure that they match aesthetically, but they will also harmonize with the rest of the bathroom, providing users with a sense of balance and order. It is best to order both the bidet and the toilet bowl simultaneously from one manufacturer. This way, one can be certain that they will have a consistent style, color, and design. Sometimes, a bidet and a toilet bowl ordered from different manufacturers, although they may look similar or identical at first glance, can differ significantly, and the difference only becomes apparent when the product arrives at the bathroom and is ready for installation.

Other faucets for hot and cold water - sink faucet

A standardly installed bidet at a height of 30 cm should be compatible with other bathroom elements. Specific sanitary ceramics also have their recommended installation height for faucets. In the case of sink installations, this is usually a distance of 85 cm from the floor. As for the sink, a wall-mounted faucet can be mounted at a height of 25 to 35 cm above its upper edge. This solution will look aesthetic and will also be practical and comfortable. In the case of a sink faucet that will be installed lower, it may cause issues during use and cause water to splash due to high pressure. This can be very inconvenient during every wash.

What about the bathtub faucet and the shower faucet?

Traditionally, it has been accepted that the edge of the bathtub should be located at a height of 40 to 60 cm above the floor. However, this second value mainly refers to freestanding bathtubs. The bathtub faucet should be about 20 cm above the upper edge. As for the shower faucet, it should be at a height of 110 to 130 cm. Additionally, increasingly popular are rain showerheads that are usually installed at a height of 200 cm. The shower faucet should be placed about 60-70 cm from the showerhead.
