Effective water flow is not only the domain of amateur writers or poor speakers. It is also a problem that keeps bathroom faucet manufacturers awake at night, who strive to design models that meet customer expectations in terms of both aesthetics and functionality. At this point, the question arises: What should an ideal sink faucet look like? What should one pay attention to when choosing a countertop sink faucet? How to choose a faucet for a small recessed sink?
How do we categorize sink faucets?
The key criterion for categorization is the size and installation method of the bathroom faucet. We have two options:
- walls-mounted sink faucets,
- deck-mounted sink faucets known as stand-alone.
Among the latter, we distinguish:
- faucets mounted on the countertop,
- faucets installed on the edge of the sink,
- faucets mounted in the floor.
Models mounted directly on sinks are the most popular. An interesting but costly type of sink faucet is the floor-mounted model, characteristic of specific types of sinks. This type of fixture is intended primarily for large bathrooms or washrooms.
An important selection criterion is also the number of knobs. In this case, one should consider whether to opt for a traditional faucet with two knobs or choose a single-lever faucet with a water mixer. In bathrooms designated for guests or in toilets, a touchless sink faucet is the ideal solution.
Which sink faucet is the most convenient to use?
When purchasing a bathroom faucet, attention should be paid to the height of the faucet and the length of the spout. It should reach the sink basin without the risk of water spilling over the edge of the ceramics. If we decide on a stand-alone faucet that we plan to install in a small recessed sink, we should choose an appropriate size with a shorter spout to avoid splashing water. Of course, the sink we choose must be equipped with holes for the faucet.
On the other hand, for a spacious sink, do not install a faucet with a short spout that only reaches beyond the edge of the basin, as using it will be uncomfortable. We should select a model with an elongated body and a shaped spout. In this case, one of the waterfall models will also be perfect. Not only will it perform well functionally, but it will also provide users with exceptional experiences during use and significantly influence the aesthetics of the bathroom.
If we are opting for a wall-mounted sink faucet, we should ensure its proper size and positioning. It should be positioned at a height of 25-35 cm above the upper edge of the sink to ensure easy access to the water stream. For a retro-style bathroom, one can choose a faucet in the color of antique gold, white, or black with stylized knobs. It is extremely important to match all elements of the fixture to the bathroom style.
The Best Bathroom Faucets for Countertop Sinks
For countertop sinks, standing faucets next to the basin present very attractively. However, one should remember to add the sink's depth to the faucet height, which is about 15 cm. The spout length should correspond to half the width of the sink. This way, we can be sure that the water flow will be directed to the central point of the sink. A sink faucet installed on the countertop can only be selected when there is unobstructed access to the faucet, and there is space on the countertop for cosmetics.
When selecting bathroom faucets and other bathroom fittings, one should consider the size of the room. A countertop sink looks best in large interiors. In smaller bathrooms, where there is not enough space for a spacious countertop with a sink, cabinets will be successful. It is sufficient to appropriately match the furniture, ceramics, and all remaining elements, and the bathroom will gain a unique style. The bathroom decor should harmonize with the rest of the house to create a coherent whole.
