The shower panel, thanks to its various functions, is dedicated both to lovers of a pleasant delicate mist and to those who prefer a quick shower that stimulates action. A bath combined with hydromassage is an excellent form of relaxation, regeneration, and soothing nerves. To enjoy the benefits of the shower panel, simply choose the right model and install it in your bathroom. We will guide you on how to properly install a shower panel.
Steps Before Installing a Shower Panel
Installing a shower panel is not a complicated task and should not pose any problem under two conditions:
- an appropriate water supply installation has been properly installed beforehand,
- we have chosen a model that fits the spacing of the shower cabin's fittings.
Panels come in two versions: surface-mounted and concealed. The former can be installed in the place of the old shower faucet without the need to break the wall or replace tiles. Of course, the success of the entire operation depends on choosing an appropriately wide model whose body will allow it to be placed at the appropriate height and cover the fittings left after the old device is removed. Minor adjustments to the position of the panel can be made using connection hoses, but it is worth remembering that the range of adjustment is limited.
Location for Installing the Shower Panel
The simplest solution occurs when we install the shower panel in the place of the old faucet. As we mentioned earlier, it proceeds without major interference with the wall surface. The device is attached using appropriate mounting hooks adapted to the types of materials from which the panels are made (e.g., stone, glass, steel, acrylic, etc.) and types of walls.
In renovated or newly constructed bathrooms, we can opt for atypical solutions, such as connecting the panel in the corner of the shower cabin or above the bathtub. When installing the panels in a corner, we can save some space, which is particularly important in small shower cabins. When deciding on the installation of the panel on the bathroom wall, right above the bathtub, we must consider its size and the need to mount a shower screen. An unconventional idea recommended for modern interiors is a freestanding shower column. However, when installing it, it is necessary to bring the water supply installation from below, i.e., below floor level.
Important Parameters When Installing the Shower Panel
Before we connect the shower panel, we must determine the height at which it should be located. The installation location largely depends on the height of the people who will use the shower cabin. It is recommended that the faucet be placed at a height of 110-130 cm from the floor surface, and the upper hydromassage nozzles no higher than 40 cm from the water control knob.
When choosing the bathroom panel, it is crucial to pay attention to its parameters, such as height and width. The shower panel must not protrude beyond the upper edge of the cabin. If a longer panel is chosen, for instance, with eight nozzles or for tall users, it will be necessary to purchase and mount a taller cabin. The width of the shower panels should take into account the spacing of the fittings to effectively cover the water supply connections.
Instructions for Installing Shower Panels
Installing the shower column is not difficult at all. We can do it ourselves with basic tools. Here is the sequence of tasks:
- Determine the installation height of the shower column;
- Mark the spots for drilling the mounting holes and insert the dowels;
- Attach the panel hooks to them;
- Check if the panel fits the hooks;
- Turn off the main water valve;
- To the water supply lines sticking out from the wall, screw in the angle shut-off valves, sealing them beforehand with packs and special sealing paste;
- Connect the panel hoses to the water supply fittings;
- Check the tightness of all elements;
- Close the water outlet from the panel and set the shut-off valves to the open position;
- Snap the shower panel onto the hooks.
The above instructions refer to the installation of a surface-mounted panel in an already existing shower cabin. To connect a concealed panel, interference with the tiles covering the bathroom wall will be unavoidable. It is advisable to decide on such shower devices at the design stage so that the finished bathroom appears immaculate and stylish.
