A rain shower is today practically an essential element of modern bathroom equipment. Clients, tempted by its popularity, are increasingly choosing this type of solution. Why is it worth deciding to install a rain shower? How does a rain shower work? What are the advantages of installing rain showers?
How modern rain showers work and their advantages
Rain shower is a part of the bathroom cabin equipment, representing a more modern alternative to a handheld showerhead. It provides a constant, even water flow during bathing, which is wide enough to envelop the entire body and warm you up faster than a traditional shower. Thanks to an internal aeration system, the water flow from the rain shower is dispersed, creating the sensation of gentle rain, which guarantees the user extremely pleasant and comfortable experiences. Rain showers have many more advantages:
- They are more convenient than a shower because you don't have to maneuver a handheld showerhead. You just need to turn on the faucet, stand under the flow of water, and enjoy a relaxing bath.
- A rain shower works great both in a shower cabin and above a bathtub.
- Installing a rain shower is extremely simple.
- The rich design allows for selecting a rain shower tailored to the shower cabin and harmonizing with the bathroom style.
- A rain shower usually costs very affordable money while offering great functionality.
Is installing a rain shower difficult?
Installing a rain shower is not complicated and depends on the type of chosen device. It is much easier to install surface-mounted rain showers designed for external construction. A bit more work is needed for recessed rain showers (wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted), although many find this type of shower to be more attractive.
- Surface-mounted rain showers are mounted on the wall of the shower cabin. All fittings are connected to previously brought water points. The rain shower or large handheld showerhead, faucet, and all mounting elements are exposed. This is particularly important if an exceptionally decorative set, e.g., retro or in an original color, is installed.
- Recessed sets require a radical renovation - breaking and replacing tiles or installing the recessed part of the faucet during the bathroom setup. Wall-mounted recessed rain showers are a permanent part of the shower cabin and are not adjustable. This type of rain shower is installed at any height, taking into account the height of the users.
- Celing-mounted rain showers are installed on a special bracket attached to the ceiling or directly in the suspended ceiling. This rain shower must be mounted rigidly to ensure stability and at a height that ensures comfortable bathing for everyone.
Water flow regulation
The desired regulation of the water flow is influenced by the type and size of the rain shower as well as its correct installation in the shower cabin. Large wall-mounted rain showers with a diameter of up to 60 cm produce a wide water flow, making them particularly recommended for large shower cabins. A smaller rain shower will work much better in small cabins. If the water from the rain shower is to flow directly into the bathtub and not flood the bathroom, a shower set with a handheld showerhead of no more than 20 cm in diameter is usually installed on a special bracket.
All models of rain showers are equipped with an aerator that regulates the water flow. Its purpose is to disperse the water flow by aerating it. The faucets of the most advanced models of rain showers are equipped with special water flow regulation. The user has the option to choose between a strong flow, a gentle mist that relaxes, an intense massage, and a cascade or water curtain.
Rain showers integrated with faucets are available for sale, for which an application has been created, allowing the regulation of water flow and temperature as well as controlling lighting and sound before stepping into the shower.
How to prevent limescale buildup?
Unsightly streaks on fittings and limescale buildup not only detract from the beauty of the bathroom but primarily shorten the lifespan of the rain shower as well as the handheld showerhead. Manufacturers prevent limescale buildup by replacing metal nozzles with rubber ones. Not only do they not attract limescale, but they are also much easier to keep clean. Additionally, the rain showerheads offered by Mexen are protected against deposits. A special layer prevents unsightly scabs from appearing, which is especially beneficial when the water in the bathroom is hard. A rain shower protected in this way will serve longer and maintain full functionality for a longer time.
However, all protections applied by the manufacturer do not relieve users of the responsibility for caring for the fittings, especially the faucet, the rain shower, or the handheld shower. Installing a water softener and regularly using special agents will ensure that bathroom fittings, including the rain shower, will shine and serve for many years.
