A kitchen sink is one of the essential appliances in every kitchen. Even if you cook very little on a daily basis and put your dishes in the dishwasher, it is hard to imagine a functional kitchen without a sink. Modern technology means that kitchen sinks are produced not only in many sizes, but also in many colors and made from very diverse materials to choose from. In this text, we will introduce you to the most popular types of sinks that are also available in our store and suggest which sink to choose for your kitchen.

Kitchen Sink – Discover the Types of Sinks

No one usually occupies their mind every day with the types of sinks that can be bought. However, when preparing for a renovation or furnishing an apartment, you must face the challenge of choosing the right sink for the kitchen. Many people are very surprised to see the range offered by any bathroom ceramics store, especially if until now they thought of them only as round and square. The sinks found on the market can be divided based on the material they are made of:

  • granite sinks - probably the most popular kitchen sink today,

  • stainless steel sinks,

  • ceramic sinks,

  • composite sinks.

If it comes to the way of installing the sink, they can be categorized as follows:

kitchen sink

  • built-in sinks (this is actually the built-in sink we choose most often),

  • undermount sinks,

  • top-mount sinks,

  • countertop sinks.

We can also classify sinks based on the number of bowls, i.e., single-bowl and double-bowl sinks, with or without a drainer, and based on the sink color. Sink manufacturers compete with each other even in the number of proposed color versions.

What Material to Choose for a Sink?

Until recently, the most commonly chosen type of kitchen sink was the enamel-coated steel sink. They are a very practical solution; however, there are also sinks made of other materials available on the market, and the popularity of individual models largely depends on trends. Currently, granite sinks are among the most frequently used in kitchen arrangements. Their undeniable advantage, aside from appearance, is their very high durability and resistance to high temperatures; granite provides high chemical resistance and ease of maintenance with standard cleaning agents used in kitchens. Additionally, a granite sink looks extremely aesthetic and quite universal.

A granite sink is definitely more durable than a ceramic sink, but it is also more expensive. If you care about both excellent quality and relatively reasonable price, then purchasing a sink made of lightweight stainless steel resistant to both mechanical damage and high temperatures would be a good decision. Stainless steel sinks can be attractive, and additionally, they are practical kitchen equipment.

Choose the Right Sink for a Modern Kitchen

The choice of sink also depends on how much space you have in the kitchen and how often you wash dishes. If you limit yourself to rinsing a few glasses daily, a single-bowl built-in sink will suffice. You will find a large selection of small sinks made from various materials on the market. However, if you cook a lot and often, you will need something larger. A double-bowl stainless steel sink with a drainer will work perfectly in this case. You can easily wash dishes, pots, and vegetables necessary for preparing daily meals in it. Automatic drains, click-clack plugs, or built-in liquid dispensers will significantly improve comfort in the kitchen.
