Bathtub with a screen - what characterizes it?

A bathtub with a screen is, for many people, a non-obvious solution. It often seems to them that for a small bathroom, they can choose either a bathtub or a shower. Installing a shower cubicle seems to them the most reasonable solution, as it does not take up much space in a small bathroom and allows for water savings. However, in such a case, you have to give up long and relaxing baths. The solution to this problem is a bathtub screen. Thanks to it, you do not have to give up either bathing in a bathtub or taking a shower. It will protect your bathroom from splashes.

Bathtub screen - which one to choose?

A bathtub with a screen for small bathrooms is a very convenient solution. Thanks to it, you can choose every day according to your preferences and take a quick shower or a long bath. The market offers different types of bathtub screens. So what type of screen should you choose? They are divided according to the type of opening. Therefore, we distinguish:

• accordion screen - also known as a folding screen, fits any shape of bathtub, even a corner one. It can consist of two or more elements. It depends on the dimensions of the bathtub. It does not have guides, so installation is very simple;
• sliding screen - also consists of two or more wings and fits every type of bathtub. The sliding screen resembles a standard shower cubicle in its appearance;
• hinged screen - its installation is slightly more difficult, as it is mounted on hinges. Moreover, it consists of one element. Thus, it does not fit every shape of bathtub. The hinged screen is suitable only for rectangular bathtubs.

Bathtub with tempered glass or plastic?

Bathtub screens are not only divided according to the method of installation. Once you have chosen the right bathtub screen for your bathroom and bathtub regarding the installation, you can also choose the material it is made of. You can choose from:

• glass screen - tempered glass is used for its production. Therefore, you can bathe in hot water without worrying about damage. Tempered glass is highly resistant to thermal shock and mechanical damage. Such screens come in many color variations. Moreover, tempered glass screens are safe to use;
• plastic screen - a commonly found solution due to its low price and lightweight material. A bathtub with a plastic screen is an excellent solution for families with children. Such a screen allows even a few-year-old child to take a shower independently. Plastic screens, such as acrylic or polystyrene, are also resistant to damage, but they get dirty much faster. They thus require more frequent cleaning;
• shower curtain screen - this is the cheapest but also the least functional solution. A bathtub with a curtain screen mounted on a rail above the bathtub provides a certain intimacy during bathing and protects the bathroom from splashes, but it does not look as aesthetically pleasing as a bathtub with a bathtub screen.

Advantages of a bathtub with a bathtub screen

Does a shower screen have any unfavorable aspects? Of course, it does. A bathtub with a screen primarily generates extra space to clean. In the case of a standalone bathtub, you do not have to regularly clean the screen. Moreover, a bathtub with a screen does not work well for people with disabilities who use wheelchairs. In such a case, a shower cubicle with a low threshold or without it is the best solution.
