Although a flush is an element that is truly chosen to perform its functions well, it is worth understanding the types and systems of the product we may encounter. By learning about new technologies, it may turn out that what we thought about does not suit us at all, and we decide on a product with more possibilities.
Types of Flushes
The fashion in bathroom arrangements changes roughly every few years. Plastic flushes resembling large boxes that quickly yellow fortunately fade into oblivion. New technology presents us with ecological, energy-saving, and concealed products.
Contemporary flushes are a categorical departure from those old plastic boxes, where flushing was done by pulling a string or lifting a handle. Current flushes, especially those that are concealed, are activated by pressing a button or have touchless buttons. With such solutions, we can save up to 50% of water. Additionally, concealed flushes can be used in wet installations or in a concealed frame. This allows us to place the toilet bowl not only on the wall but also in a corner.
Flushes can also be divided according to the type of flushing:
- continuous - activated by pressing a lever
- compact - available in plastic, chrome, or ceramic versions
- urinal - for installation near urinals.
The type of flush, however, depends on the type of toilet bowl intended for our bathroom. In compact toilet bowls, the toilet bowl is connected to the water tank, which usually has a capacity of 6 to 9 litres.
A wall-hung toilet, on the other hand, requires a frame, a flush button, a seat, and a soundproof mat. In this case, the flush is hidden under the plaster. Externally, we only have the toilet and the flush button.
The low-level flush toilet bowl is actually two different products: the toilet and the water tank. This is one of the cheapest options for such products.
Colours and Design
In the case of all kinds of flushes, there is no issue with colour as they mostly come in white. Concealed flushes do not require colour selection either. However, a different feature is design. Each flush has its unique appearance, and we can choose one that matches the shape of our bathroom decor. In concealed flushes, we select the flush button. Here we have more creative freedom, but we will leave that topic for another time.
Returning to our flushes, shape matters, and we should always consider the design of our bathroom. Is it more streamlined, with gentle curves, or rather in a more raw style, with edges and squares.
Saving Water
Water is currently a highly valued resource for its conservation. More and more people are beginning to realise that we have little of it in the world. That is why, when purchasing products that use water, more and more people pay attention to the possibilities of saving it. Therefore, bathroom fixture manufacturers are introducing newer technologies in this aspect. As previously mentioned, for flushes it is the possibility of flushing with a stop function or with a dual flush system. This applies to both concealed and low-level flushes.
