A washbasin for a very small bathroom? It's possible!

Are you decorating a bathroom or planning its renovation? Looking for stylish and practical solutions that work well in a small space? The modern market is full of products that are suitable for both small and unconventional rooms – in the offerings of many well-known manufacturers, you will also find a wide selection of sanitary appliances that not only fit well into the interior style but also ensure maximum comfort during everyday use, even in a small space. Among modern products, there is no shortage of high-quality bathroom ceramics, including stylish and functional washbasins. Which one will work best in a small bathroom?

Small bathroom? It's no reason to give up on a sink!

Having a small bathroom is often problematic for owners as every centimetre of occupied space counts. Sometimes, when choosing equipment and accessories, we realise that we have to forgo many things because either they are too large, or there are simply too many to fit in the bathroom. But is it a good idea to give up such a practical element as a washbasin?

The bathroom is a place where we can take care of personal hygiene, relax after a tough day at work, or prepare to go out. The washbasin is one of the "places" where taking care of oneself is made much easier – having it is exceptionally comfortable, and contrary to appearances, its mere presence encourages us to do many tasks each day that are difficult to perform without it, especially when we have children. Kids – especially those growing up – need a place where they can brush their teeth or wash their hands. Without a washbasin, instilling the right habits is difficult, so it's worth considering buying one. Many are probably asking themselves: "But where should I mount it?". The answer to this question is simpler than you might think.

Small space – small sink

Manufacturers of bathroom ceramics compete daily in creating newer models inspired by modern design on the one hand, and the latest technological advances on the other. Available in the collections of well-known stores, sinks can now be adapted even to the smallest bathroom, and their installation can be childishly simple, requiring no specialised knowledge or equipment. For small spaces, it's better not to opt for typical sinks with a cabinet – they take up a lot of precious space, while in small bathrooms, every centimetre matters. Among the models we consider, we should focus mainly on wall-mounted or countertop sinks. The latter is ideal when we have space in the bathroom for a cabinet, while the former can be attached to the wall wherever we choose, greatly facilitating space arrangement and adapting it to the household members' needs.

Wall-mounted sinks – a wide range of models with unique shapes

Contrary to appearances, wall-mounted sinks come in various forms, sizes, and designs – models from collections of well-known manufacturers are intended for rooms in styles ranging from traditional, modern, to industrial. Depending on how we want to arrange our bathroom, we have to concentrate on what we expect from our sink: whether we want it to be as small as possible, just for washing hands and teeth; plan to place some knick-knacks on it; or intend to install additional accessories in the near future. Such questions are endless, but it's worth thinking about them because the right choice can allow us to make extra space for small items or minimise occupied space without removing essential equipment and accessories.

Practical solutions to save a lot of free space

A small bathroom, contrary to appearances, offers some room to manoeuvre – increasingly, sanitary ware manufacturers offer their clients classic sinks in slightly smaller sizes, so now you can choose from almost all types of sinks available on the market. In many cases, a corner sink can be a perfect solution, providing additional storage space for cosmetics and small toiletries – however, the orientation of the ceramics in relation to other equipment and maintaining safe and comfortable distances may be problematic. It's also worth considering an over-counter variant – sinks of this type come in many different shapes and colours, serving also as a decorative function. In this case, you can install the ceramics on a cabinet or a countertop specially prepared for this purpose – however, it's important to remember that over-counter sinks are characterised by high installation, so the countertop should be installed at the proper height.
