Bath Screens - Construction

Bath screens are necessary products if we opt for a bath-shower mixer tap, meaning we intend to take showers in the bath as well as baths. They are designed to protect us from flooding the bathroom with water and help maintain cleanliness and save time. Therefore, they must be made from appropriate materials.

Toughened Glass

It is obvious that products like bath screens must be made of solid materials that do not get damaged at the first sign of use. This is why the main component of bath screens is toughened glass, a material that undoubtedly does not get damaged quickly.

Toughening glass involves heating it to the right temperature and then cooling it in a stream of compressed air. The result of the whole process is that tensions develop on the surface layer that are both expansive and compressive. These tensions are responsible for significantly increasing the strength of the glass.

Toughened glass is much safer than ordinary glass because if it breaks, it shatters into relatively large fragments. In the case of glass that has not been subjected to this process, it breaks into small splinters that can cause harm. Toughened glass has increased mechanical strength and thermal resistance compared to ordinary glass. This is precisely why it is used for constructing bath screens.

Aluminium

The frames of bath screens should be just as solid and resistant to damage as the screens themselves. They form the skeleton of the entire construction, so they need to be properly protected against damage. If they get damaged, intervention and replacement of frames (if possible) or the entire screen will be necessary. This, in turn, generates additional costs that none of us want to incur. Therefore, the frames of the screens are made from aluminium. Aluminium is a technically pure element that contains varying amounts of impurities depending on the production method. Aluminium is mainly obtained from bauxite, an earthy sedimentary rock, primarily composed of aluminium oxides.

Aluminium is lightweight and resistant to water action. It does not add extra weight, nor does it degrade over time with constant water contact. The strength of aluminium is low, but can be enhanced as needed. It is a material that undoubtedly meets the needs of bath screen frame users. Lightweight and completely resistant to water action, they will last us for many years.

Reflex Coating

The Reflex coating was developed specifically for bathroom ceramics and shower enclosure glass fillings. It has also found its application in bath screens. Keeping products coated with this finish clean will not be a problem for us at all. Quite the opposite.

Thanks to innovative technology, small water droplets combine into larger ones and flow away, taking most of the dirt with them. Thus, it limits the formation of new contaminants, and no special agents will be required for its maintenance. In this case, a cloth and sponge will suffice. The Reflex coating is a feature of bath screens that is becoming more common and is definitely worth investing your money in.
