When designing a dream bathroom or toilet, we focus on functionality and aesthetics. No one wants these rooms to be disfigured by protruding pipes, fittings, etc. Firstly, all connection elements for WC and bidets are simply unattractive, and secondly, they are places where dust and cobwebs additionally accumulate. Everyone wants the bathroom and toilet to be places where it's easy to maintain a proper level of hygiene. Therefore, more and more frequently toilet devices are installed using concealed frames. The entire connecting system is hidden, and on the outside, we only have a panel with buttons for the flush. Wall-hung toilet bowls and bidets are very convenient and aesthetic solutions, thanks to which it's easy to keep both the devices and the floor beneath them clean.
Which frame to choose
Currently, on the market of concealed frames, we have two main models to choose from: frames for dry and wet installation, also known as for heavy and light construction. You also need to decide whether it should be a high or low frame. The choice depends on various factors, but with both types of frames, you can conveniently adjust the height of the toilet bowl and the flush button. As for price differences, wet installation frames are definitely cheaper, but not always usable. Sometimes customers are concerned about the safety of suspended bowls, so it's worth remembering that most concealed frames for WC have a load capacity of 400 kilograms, which means we shouldn't worry about the bowl not staying attached to the wall.
Frames for wet installation
Concealed frames for wet installation, also known as heavy, are bricked on each side and below. They support the outlet, flush tank, and connections. Their load capacity allows safe support on a brick wall. Installing this type of frame is definitely more labor-intensive. It's worth noting that frames designed for dry installation can be easily and quickly attached to a brick wall using appropriate anchors, but the other way round is not possible.
Frame for dry installation
If our bathroom doesn't have solid brick walls, we should opt for a light frame, which is designed for plasterboard installation on a wooden or aluminum frame. It can be installed in a wall that has been reinforced with proper profiles. First, the water and drainage connections are made. Later, such a structure should be covered with plasterboard panels. The WC bowl should be hung on screws, which must be properly screwed into the concealed frame beforehand.
Low or high frame
Deciding on a frame for dry installation, we have a choice of low or high installation. In low installation, the flush button can be installed both vertically and horizontally. This way, we gain a convenient shelf for various toilet accessories. However, in this case, the flush button must be placed directly behind the toilet seat. This means that when we want to use it, it's necessary to close the lid. This helps to remember this important hygiene action. In high installation, the flush button should only be installed vertically. Usually, it is placed higher than the toilet seat. This makes it easy to use. It doesn't cause issues, for example, triggering the flush button by leaning too much on the seat. The higher the frame, the higher you can place the shelf, or you can forgo the shelf and extend the casing to the ceiling, creating an aesthetic plane.
What else to pay attention to
When choosing a concealed frame, it's necessary to pay attention to the capacity of the flushes. Most flushes have a capacity of 6 liters, and the user can decide whether to release the entire amount of water – 6l, or only half – 3l. Some frames have the option to adjust the filling level of the tank – from 6 to 9 liters in standard flushing mode and from 3 to 5 liters in economy mode.
An important issue is also the choice of the appropriate flush button, most frames come with a button, but sometimes you can choose a different non-factory color and match it to the bathroom design. You can also choose a split button with a stop function allowing for economical water use. Everything is very important here, even the design of the flush button, because its appropriate selection to the frame makes the bathroom present much better. Concealed frames for WC have various dimensions of the inspection opening, so buttons with a small opening will not be suitable for a flush that contains this element rather large. When choosing a frame, it's worth selecting a company that has been around for a long time because it provides a chance to use spare parts even after many years. In case of buying a frame from a company that quickly vanished from the market, there might be a problem finding the correct spare parts. This will expose users to costs, as dismantling the frame casing will then be necessary. No owner would be happy about it. Therefore, it's worth paying attention to which parts of the frame and for how long the manufacturer provides a warranty.
