How does a shower head affect water conservation?

It has been known for a long time that low water consumption is one of the main factors we consider when choosing sanitary fixtures. If we have the option of choosing in terms of savings, it is worth investing to limit our household budget to a minimum. The water consumption parameter depends on several elements - one of them is the shower head itself, which, depending on the model, is equipped with a number of innovative solutions that affect lower water consumption in our bathroom.

Shower head with aerator

An aerator, also known as a perlator, is an attachment in the form of a ring equipped with a screen that fits onto a tap or shower head. The vacuum created during the water flow is combined with natural air. This gives the impression of double the amount of water. This is only an illusion, and in practice, the outlet releases half as much water.

You can buy a perlator separately, and the market offers us two types of devices:

  • perlator with an internal thread
  • perlator with an external thread.

The choice of perlator depends solely on the customer's existing tap, so it's worth consulting the store staff when buying, who will advise and help us choose the right perlator. An additional attraction is the choice of appropriate LED lighting, which affects the color of the water. This is a very cool feature for families with children. It is an original solution that helps shape daily hygiene habits for the youngest. Moreover, a child's smile will bring joy to the parents.

Water flow limiter

The shower head itself is a saving for our wallet. It is known that bathing in a tub also has its advantages - lounging in it for hours is the only relaxation for some, but very often it is associated with higher water bills. A suitable shower head can bring proper soothing and rest for our body similar to a bathtub, and we will gain greater water savings.

Additionally, the shower head can be equipped with a water flow limiter, which is associated with an ecological bath. This is possible thanks to the built-in appropriate LED signaling in the handle. There is lighting on the shower head handle that informs us about water consumption during the shower. Various colors indicate how long the shower should last. The green color, or eco, is the most economical. If a red color appears, it's a sign to finish the bath. The market offers us more and more options that affect water savings - largely due to the problems of decreasing water resources worldwide. Each drop of water, not only in Africa, is worth its weight in gold.

Thermostatic tap

If you love bathing but are annoyed by setting the water temperature each time, it is time to invest in a thermostatic tap. Thanks to a one-time water setting, we will have a constant temperature set according to our individual preferences and needs.

How can the thermostatic element regulate water? Well, inside the tap is a mechanism responsible for mixing hot and cold water - the kind we set ourselves on the dial. The temperature can be set in a range from 15 to 60 degrees with an accuracy of 1 degree. Most taps have a temperature lock to prevent uncontrolled increase, so we no longer need to fear accidental burns. Thermostatic taps come in various colors and shapes, so we can perfectly match the chosen model to the style prevailing in the bathroom. A properly selected product will perfectly blend with a modern shower head and bath or cabin.

Save water by following a few practical tips

Not planning to replace fixtures soon? No problem! There are a few practical tricks to save water each time you take a bath. You will achieve lower water consumption and noticeably lower bills by following them daily.

  • If possible, lower the water temperature during a bath - cooler showers are excellent in summer, and in winter, it's enough to reduce the temperature by just a few degrees.
  • Shorten your bathing time, limiting yourself to the necessary minimum.
  • Limit the water stream strength, by setting the tap to about "halfway" - slower flow effectively handles foam and positively impacts the household budget.
  • Place the shower head closer to the body - this seemingly simple measure prevents the water stream from dispersing, ensuring the water does not cool down when hitting the skin.
  • Keep cosmetics within reach - much time during the bath is wasted searching for soap or shampoo, so when planning your shower space, make sure everything you need is close to you.
  • Turn off the water when doing other activities - you can search for shampoo or lather your body after turning off the water tap, saving several liters of water during a single shower.
