What bath to choose?

When arranging a house or renovating a bathroom, we face many different dilemmas. The bathroom is a space used every day, so it is worth ensuring that being in it is as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Choosing the right bath is extremely important - after all, it will be a place not only for hygienic procedures but also for relaxation.

The shape and size are important

The bathtub is a product purchased for many years, so its choice should be dictated primarily by our expectations. Before purchasing, it is worth carefully considering what shape and size it should be. When choosing a bathtub for the bathroom, it is essential to accurately assess the space available. It is necessary to take into account not only the space for the bath itself but also the distances from adjacent equipment. In a situation where we have quite a lot of free space, we can opt for a corner double bath. In situations where the bathroom is not very large, purchasing a rectangular or asymmetrical corner bath may be an excellent solution. The basic criteria for selection are primarily size, shape, and the type of material used for its production.

The traditional and most common baths are rectangular, with a length typically ranging from 120 to 200 centimeters and a width from 70 to 100 centimeters. In many cases, the drainage and overflow holes are located on the shorter side. These baths are very easy to enclose with tiles if desired. This bath will fit into almost any bathroom, regardless of the design style. It will create a cohesive and harmonious whole with both modern interiors and those with a more classic character.

There is also considerable popularity for baths with slightly more unusual shapes. These include corner baths (symmetrical or asymmetrical), pentagonal, hexagonal, or rounded. The lengths of the sides of symmetrical baths typically range from 130 to 157 centimeters, while in the case of asymmetrical baths, their longer sides range from 150 to 175 centimeters, with the shorter sides between 75 and 157 centimeters. It is also worth knowing that asymmetrical baths are produced in both right and left versions. Corner baths, like rectangular ones, can be enclosed with tiles.

In exclusive bathrooms, you can also find round or elliptical baths. They are often recessed into the floor and then enclosed with matching tiles. They typically have a depth ranging between 38 and 47 centimeters. These baths are relatively rare but are very elegant and impossible to ignore.

What material will be the best?

Commonly chosen bathtubs are made of acrylic, using boards about 5 millimeters thick. Acrylic can be either two or three-layered, further reinforced with polyester resin or fiberglass. Acrylic baths are characterized by high durability and quality. They are also resistant to scratches, chemicals, and abrasion, making their purchase an excellent long-term investment. Importantly, the acrylic surface is warm to the touch, enhancing the comfort of using the bath.

Acrylic can be easily formed into various shapes, which means it is possible to create headrests or armrests, positively affecting bathing comfort. Many manufacturers offer shiny or matte finishes. They are very light, making both transport and installation relatively easy.

Steel baths - characteristics

Steel baths are made from steel sheets usually not exceeding 6 millimeters in thickness and are coated with an enamel layer. They are generally available in rectangular versions, though differently profiled baths (for example, tapered towards the centre) are also available. To increase the safety of using steel baths, some are equipped with practical, non-slip bottoms. They are somewhat heavier than acrylic baths but still have a wide range of supporters.

Steel baths are also popular because of their attractive price, which is slightly lower than that of acrylic baths. Moreover, they are covered with the previously mentioned enamel layer, which allows the use of chemical cleaning agents without the risk of damaging the bathtub. This makes steel baths very durable, and purchasing them is an excellent and beneficial long-term investment.
