Which model of tap to choose?

Designing a bathroom is a very complex process. One poorly chosen element can negatively impact the entirety of the interior. Bathroom arrangement should consider all aspects, starting from bathroom fittings made of high-quality material, to accessories. Each of us pays attention to the comfort and functionality of the bathroom. If the bathroom fittings are made of durable materials, we gain greater durability of these elements.

Division of washbasin taps based on installation method

Considering the installation method, washbasin taps can be divided into:

  • standing - for many years, they have been the most popular among Irish consumers. These taps are installed in the hole found in the washbasin,
  • freestanding - these models look best in modern bathrooms. They are mounted on the countertop or the top of the under-sink cabinet,
  • wall-mounted - such taps are directly connected to the system. It's a good solution for those who want to keep the edge of the sink free,
  • concealed - these taps look extremely impressive because all unsightly installation elements are hidden. This is an excellent option for owners of minimalist bathrooms.

Tap head? Which model?

The head in the tap is responsible for the correct operation of the faucet. It's worth investing in those made from more durable material. Currently, the market offers us three types of heads: ceramic, seal, and mushroom for heads.

The ceramic head is one of the most popular heads used in modern taps. It is a part of the tap that, unlike other models, has fixed ceramic rings. It has a smooth surface, so lime and deposits do not settle on its surface. Each type of ceramic head has different dimensions, so they fit different types of taps - both the mixer type and others, with traditional knobs.

The sealed head is considered second after the ceramic head. It is often used due to its good quality features. In case of failure, it can be replaced independently. Meanwhile, the mushroom for heads comes in various sizes. Usually made of brass, it is a part of the tap that rarely fails.

Tap with aerator or without?

The aerator is an element of the tap that allows you to save water. In modern taps, it is a basic element, mounted at the end of the spout. It mechanically breaks up the water using a fitted screen or proper nozzles, increasing its volume through aeration. The aerator greatly influences stream quality and savings.

In a tap without an aerator, we use more water. Fortunately, this mechanism can be installed at any time in the purchased model. Furthermore, it can be permanently mounted or removed as needed by users. It is a very functional solution, e.g., when we want to fill a bucket that is outside the sink. Currently, aerators are made of plastic, less often from metal and silicone. If it is well designed and made of the right material, it should limit lime build-up on the screen. Each aerator should be systematically cleaned and any dirt and lime removed.

Is it worth investing in taps with a thermostat?

One of the main advantages of washbasin taps with a built-in thermostat is the comfort and safety of household members. This installation regulates water temperature. Therefore, it is an excellent option for families with children who use the sink independently. Parents experience internal comfort and peace. Burns can happen very easily, so it's worth investing in this system. Moreover, children react negatively to icy water.

Another advantage is the ease of regulation. Wall-mounted washbasin taps have two knobs, with one for setting water temperature and the other for adjusting the stream. If we set the correct water temperature for our body, we don't have to change the settings when using the tap again. Everything depends on the model of the wall-mounted tap we choose. Technology and the wide range available on the market give us a great chance to change and improve our daily life.

How to care for your washbasin tap?

To ensure that the washbasin tap we purchased serves us for a long time, while pleasing the eye with its aesthetic appearance, we should take care of its proper maintenance. The vast majority of available elements of such bathroom fittings have a chrome surface, which requires the use of dedicated agents. The best solution here will be agents in the form of gel or foam - by using them, we can be sure that we don't scratch the tap's surface. What is the best way to clean it? For this purpose, soft cloths or sponges should be used. The washbasin tap should be cleaned about 2-3 times a week.
