Exposed Bath System - Movable or Fixed Spout?

A modern, elegant bathroom tap can undoubtedly enhance the interior decor and become an unusual decorative element in the bathroom. However, the aesthetic function, although extremely important, is not its most crucial feature. A bath tap must be primarily functional and easy to use. Such characteristics are provided by the appropriate spout. Look at exposed bath systems, see what choices you have, and select a product that meets your expectations.

Classification of Bath Taps

Bathroom taps play an extremely important role. They mainly allow the flow of running water to the bath or sink and enable control of its strength, stream, and temperature. Appropriately chosen spouts allow water to be directed to a specific place or direction. They can be divided primarily by the number of elements in the set, spout mobility, number of handles, and method and place of installation. One might also attempt a division based on the shape of the spout emitting varied water streams, various types of heads, or additional equipment such as an aerator or thermostat, but that is not the subject of our considerations.

Single and Double Handle Bathroom Taps

The simplest bath tap consists only of a single, usually fixed spout equipped with two taps (one for hot and one for cold water). Such double-handle taps are most commonly found in very old buildings. They are impractical and uneconomical. Manipulating two knobs to set the right water temperature causes water wastage.

Somewhat newer sink models are single-handle. We call them mixers because the tap mechanism mixes hot and cold water, and when the lever is activated, a stream of desired temperature flows. When choosing such a product, economic and ecological aspects are considered.

Multi-Hole Bath Taps

A sink or bath tap can be 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-, or even 5-hole. Each of them has its pros and cons, so it's worth examining different types of taps and choosing the optimal solution. Essentially, a modern bathroom should include high-quality multi-hole models. These include a fixed spout, a shower set with a handheld showerhead, and one or more water switches.

In such sets, apart from the removable showerhead, the standing spout can also be movable and can be set parallel to the edge of the bath. The original appearance, functionality, and convenience of use argue for choosing multi-hole taps. By hiding the shower hose in the bath's casing, we gain additional space and easier access to tap controlling elements.

Bath Taps with Fixed Spout

Until recently, fixed spouts dominated bathroom tap offerings. They were mounted on the wall or the edge of the bath or sink. This was not a convenient solution because it did not allow changing the position of the spout and did not offer the possibility of directing the water stream in a desired direction. The water could only flow in one place. This system made it impossible to perform many tasks, such as rinsing the bath, washing hair, or filling a tall container with water. The fixed spout also posed a risk for bathing children, as they could easily hit it during play in the bath. Extended far towards the center of the bath, it hindered exit from the bath for people with limited mobility.

Advantages of Taps with Movable Spout

Among the numerous types of bathroom taps, those with a movable spout deserve particular attention. They can be maneuvered and set as needed. Especially innovative are shower sets with a folding spout. Such taps are often installed next to kitchen sinks placed under a window. They are also installed in small bathrooms where every centimeter of space is precious. A folding spout installed in a small shower cabin takes up significantly less space than a fixed one, thus not limiting movement and ensuring a safe shower. Installing this type of spout signifies another step towards unique bathroom design achieved with minimal expense.

Pull-Out Spouts

Among customers seeking innovative design solutions, taps with a pull-out spout are gaining increasing popularity, with a hose hidden in the bath's casing. These devices have a functional, removable showerhead that allows stream control and directing water wherever needed. From the extensive bathroom tap range, you can also choose a tap consisting of a body with an attached movable showerhead. A high tap equipped with a switch allows changing the water flow from the spout to the showerhead and vice versa. In the absence of a shower cabin, both the first and second model can successfully replace the shower. Choosing a movable spout will ensure greater comfort in use.
