Bathroom accessory installation can be done by drilling, but this is quite an invasive method that can result in damaging the tiles. Drill holes leave marks, which are not welcome, especially in rented apartments. Fortunately, there are other ways that do not require a drill or such equipment. See how to attach holders for bathroom accessories.
Methods of mounting without drilling
Modern installation methods do not require any specialist equipment or professional help. Shelves or racks obviously won’t stay on self-adhesive hooks, but a toilet paper holder and other small bathroom items certainly will. Holders can be mounted on walls, tiles, and even on doors - this should also be taken into account when choosing a mounting method. See how to attach bathroom hooks.
Mounting system
One solution is to attach the hanger using special adhesive, the proper amount of which is placed in a cassette found under the mounting clip. How to do it step by step?
- Choose the spot for hanging the hook and clean it.
- On a degreased surface, firmly attach the mounting clip and insert the adhesive cassette.
- At this stage, the adhesive does not dry, so adjust the position of the clip if necessary.
- After about 30 minutes, finish mounting the element by covering the mounting clip with a decorative cap.
This type of hook is attached firmly, so you can attach, for example, towel hooks. It’s also important that such a mounted element is resistant to water.
Self-adhesive hooks
This is another solution without the need for drilling. It is probably the simplest way to mount hooks on tiles - on a dry, degreased surface, stick the hook, removing the protective film beforehand. This installation can easily be done independently, but it's important to know that such self-adhesive hooks cannot hold much weight. A toilet paper holder or a small towel should stay in place, but a robe or bath towel might not be supported. You might consider using a super-strong adhesive, placing an adequate amount under the hook.
Double-sided mounting tapes
This is an interesting solution, even applicable to bathroom mirrors. These tapes are widely available and inexpensive, but their main advantage is durability. Many tape models can be successfully used in the bathroom as they are water-resistant. However, always check this, as some tapes are only suitable for concrete or exterior surfaces.
Similar to mounting with adhesive, first, degrease the surface, tape the mirror with vertical strips, and press against the wall. For mounting a toilet paper holder, a small piece of tape is sufficient as the paper is simply light. However, it is important to remember to choose tapes from reputable manufacturers because cheap substitutes often lack quality, which might not even hold a toilet paper holder!
Special mounting adhesive
Using adhesive is another idea for attaching a holder without a drill. Good adhesive can withstand loads of up to several kilograms, so it can be used to attach a toilet paper holder, a bathroom shelf, or even a mirror. When choosing adhesive for the bathroom, make sure it is waterproof and check which materials it can be used on. Although most of such preparations have wide applications, it’s better to see if it is suitable for stainless steel, metal, or aluminum, and whether it can be used on tiles.
Why choose no-drill mounting?
Usually, bathroom accessories such as a toilet paper holder, soap dish, or towel hooks are purchased at the end of bathroom decoration. Drilling, then, is somewhat risky - tiles may crack or chip. Unfortunately, tile damage is not easy to repair. Thus, a better solution is to install holders and hooks without the need for drilling.
Among proven methods are self-adhesive hooks, mounting tapes, or special adhesives that are moisture-resistant. All these methods are readily available, inexpensive, and do not require specialized skills. In the future, they will also be convenient to dismantle because their mounting methods are non-invasive.
