Is It Worth Replacing Toilet Brushes?

We individually tailor the design of our bathroom, as well as the arrangement of bathroom fixtures and furniture, to our needs to ensure the highest comfort of use. This also applies to the rest of the bathroom equipment, including towels and toilet brushes. Below we will explain how often and why we should replace a toilet brush. We will also advise on what to pay special attention to when purchasing a new toilet brush.

Why Is Replacing a Toilet Brush So Important?

We all want our home, especially the bathroom, to shine with cleanliness. However, for this, we need the right accessories. A toilet brush is an accessory that will make it easier for us to clean the toilet. However, the cleanliness of our toilet is not only indicated by its sparkling white colour. It may turn out that, contrary to appearances, the brush we used to clean the toilet did not remove bacteria and germs. The reason for this, in most cases, is not improper use of the toilet brush, but its prolonged use. The brush itself should leave our toilet after about half a year.

Using a toilet brush for longer than the aforementioned half year is also not recommended due to its frequent mechanical damage. They happen not only when we clean the toilet bowl, but also when the toilet brush is in its container. We often have water in it, and the bristles of the toilet brush are not always highly resistant to the harmful effects of moisture. The type of bristles on the toilet brush also affects its quality, as well as whether cleaning with it will be effective.

What Kind of Brush to Choose for Toilet Cleaning?

We already know that we need to replace the toilet brush. Maybe not as often as toilet paper because we always try to have spare rolls at home. We don't need to have a spare toilet brush, but we should remember to replace it regularly; otherwise, our toilet will still be full of germs and bacteria. So, which toilet brush will be the best choice? It's a very individual matter, as when choosing a toilet brush, we need to consider many aspects. For example, the products available at Mexen shop differ from each other in many ways. We can choose a toilet brush with synthetic or silicone bristles. Additionally, the appearance of the toilet brush container can also vary. The container can either form a cohesive whole with the brush handle or can be similar to the rest of the ceramics in our bathroom. It's a matter of aesthetics and our sense of style.

The brush handle and its container, however, are not the only elements that characterize these products. The way they are mounted is also important. We can choose a standing brush or a wall-mounted one. The latter can be easily installed in our bathroom on dowels or a special adhesive bracket. A wall-mounted toilet brush container will also help protect our floor from splashes. It's an extremely practical way to place a brush in both large and small bathrooms. Often, the bathroom floor is filled with other accessories as well. In such a place, there is no room to place a stand container next to the toilet. That's when wall-fixed brushes come in handy.

Brush Bristles - What Will Be Best?

Cleaning the toilet bowl largely depends on the type of bristles from which our toilet brush is made. Most of them are made with synthetic bristles, but there are also brushes on the market equipped with bristles made from silicone. The latter are highly resistant to the harmful effects of moisture.

Some WC brushes with synthetic bristles are characterized by having two types of bristles in one product. The first is soft and designed to wash the toilet bowl and maintain its cleanliness regularly. The second, thicker synthetic bristle that this brush is characterized by helps us remove tougher stains from our toilet.

The material from which the cleaning element of the toilet brush is made isn't everything, though. The shape of the brush is also important. There are several on the market. We can therefore choose a round brush, a half-round brush, or one that is appropriately profiled. Each of these bathroom products is characterized by different cleaning capabilities. Which brush we choose for our bathroom depends on our individual needs. We should choose a profiled brush for hard-to-reach areas in our toilet. Again, a round or half-round brush can clean almost any toilet. These are the most popular products found in almost every Irish bathroom.

Brush Handle and Container - Does It Matter?

When choosing a toilet brush, we should also pay attention to its handle. The important thing is primarily the material from which it is made. We have a choice of brushes with handles made from:

  • ceramics,
  • stainless steel,
  • plastic,
  • natural materials.

A toilet brush with a plastic handle is the cheapest but also the least durable option. A better solution will therefore be products with a stainless steel or ceramic handle. They are characterized by high durability. A brush with a handle made from natural materials, such as bamboo wood, is appropriately protected against moisture. Moreover, it is hard, which facilitates cleaning the bowl, and durable. Even a long period and intensive use cannot damage its handle. Another thing is that a brush made from natural materials is an eco-friendly product. By choosing such a toilet brush, we care for our planet.

The toilet paper in our bathroom does not have to match it in colour. However, an accessory like a toilet brush should be matched to the interior it is in. Therefore, we have many options to choose from, both in colour and material. However, it's best if our toilet brush has a container made from materials resistant not only to mechanical damage but also to the effects of chemicals. We clean the inside of the toilet with a toilet brush and use strong corrosive products for this purpose.

The container of our brush should also be characterized by high walls. This way, we protect the bathroom floor from splashes of water or toilet cleaning products. Whether our toilet brush will be shiny and made from stainless steel or have a matte finish depends on our preferences and bathroom decor. However, it is important that the brush fulfils its primary function, which is to thoroughly clean our toilet. Remember, a toilet brush is not a lifetime product.
