You enter the bathroom with the intention of taking a relaxing bath, but you are greeted by an unpleasant sight. Towels are strewn about everywhere: on the washing machine, on the cabinets, and the bath towel is carelessly lying on the floor next to the shower. Although one of the towels is neatly hanging on a hook, the path to it is marked by water droplets. You jump out intending to have a wild row with your family members. Wait! Maybe it’s your fault for not providing the right hooks, or placing them in the wrong location? We will give you tips on where to install hooks so that towels are always at hand.
How to purposefully arrange towel hooks in the bathroom?
The bathroom should be equipped with all necessary accessories, and the entire space arranged in a functional way, ensuring comfort for its users. It’s worth considering where and at what height to place the towel hooks. Let’s start with everyday towels, which we use to dry our hands. These towels should be located as close to the sink as possible, to avoid splashing water on the floor when we reach for them.
We have several options to choose from:
- It’s best to hang the towel hook on the same wall as the sink, either to the right or left of it, depending on where we have space,
- If there is no space right by the sink, you can attach the hook to one of the adjacent walls,
- If there are doors near the sink, it’s worth utilizing their surface, but in this case, you should choose hooks that do not require drilling,
- For basins mounted on the countertop, towel hooks can be placed under the counter,
- A good solution, especially in a small bathroom, is to attach the hook to the side wall of the cabinet with the sink.
Towel hooks for the bathroom mounted to the wall
Choosing a functional towel hook for the bathroom is not a trivial matter. First of all, you need to decide which wall and where it will be placed. Usually, there isn't a lot of space in the bathroom, so every inch must be wisely utilized to fit all necessary bathroom accessories. You should also consider the individual needs of the household members (for left-handed people, the side on which the towel hangs may be important).
In store offerings, you will find various types of towel hooks for the bathroom:
- Wall-mounted hooks are the most classic and commonly used. Their advantage is small size, which allows us to install them virtually anywhere - by the sink, bathtub, or shower. They can come in the form of single hooks or longer bars with several hangers.
- An elegant form of a single towel hook is a decorative chrome ring, which due to its aesthetic qualities also serves a decorative function.
- A practical element of the bathroom is a folding wall rack equipped with special movable telescopes that allow you to pull out as many rods as you need at a given moment. Such racks can serve as small dryers while also being an interesting addition to the bathroom decor.
- In small bathrooms, a shoulder rack with several movable rods that can be adjusted to determine the spacing between them works well. This type of rack is best placed near the bathtub, so each family member can hang their towel there.
Freestanding towel racks for the bathroom
Fixed racks usually require making holes in the walls. Of course, you can choose a cheap rack with a plastic suction cup that offers non-invasive mounting, but let’s not fool ourselves, these racks tend to peel off and fall due to even a slight load from a single towel. So, which rack should you choose to avoid drilling that could damage the tiles?
At this point, it’s worth recommending ladder and freestanding racks, which are increasingly gaining popularity and look great in any bathroom. Their advantage is mobility and the associated functionality. Simply put, by using this type of hook, you can easily change its location - placing it next to the sink, in front of the bathtub, or from any side of the shower cabin, and even moving it to another room.
Freestanding racks come in various heights. A taller ladder rack can hold several towels, making it easier to dry them. Some ladder models have hooks on which you can hang baskets for toiletries. Metal racks with simple shapes and smooth chrome surfaces fit perfectly into interior trends dominated by minimalism. Cast iron and brass will be a good option if we style the bathroom in retro or glamour.
