Such solutions mean that year by year, the demand for shower cabins with trays increases. The question is, which shower tray to choose? What material, what depth?
What to consider when buying?
Contrary to appearances, buying a shower tray is not a simple task. On store shelves, you can find models of various shapes, finishes, and materials. On one hand, the wealth of choice can be confusing, but on the other, it allows you to create your dream bathroom arrangement.
Super flat, stylish and modern, or perhaps large and deep, just right for families with children? Both functionality, aesthetics, and design are important. When choosing a shower tray, you should primarily pay attention to the size of the bathroom and the place where the shower will be installed.
What material will be appropriate?
It is also important that the purchased shower tray serves us for a long time. Therefore, it's worth considering the material it's made of. The most popular and often chosen are acrylic shower trays. They are lightweight and, with Styrofoam backing, additionally soundproofed, and they are easy to keep clean. The properties of acrylic also allow for maintaining shine and lasting color. Besides acrylic, we also distinguish:
- Mineral cast - the surface of the tray is smooth and also does not discolor. Trays made of this material are easy to keep clean and have antibacterial properties. Moreover, they are more solid, resistant to chemicals, and wear out more slowly.
- Steel - they are resistant to chemicals and scratches, and easy to clean. They are usually enameled. They are not often chosen by customers.
- Ceramic - characterized by high durability and scratch resistance. They look elegant, but they are also heavy and expensive.
What should be the dimensions of the shower tray?
The dimensions of shower trays, regardless of shape, are provided by two values: width and radius.
The most popular sizes are:
- 80 x 80 centimeters,
- 90 x 90 centimeters,
- 100 x 100 centimeters.
There are also ones with a width of 180 centimeters. For small bathrooms, it's best to choose small shower trays with a size of 70 x 70 centimeters.
Another very important parameter is the depth of the shower tray, which really affects the comfort of showering. If the shower is the only bathing place, it's worth considering buying a deep shower tray. This is also very useful if you have small children. In stores, you can find shower trays with a depth from 4.5 to 30 centimeters.
For modern interiors, flat shower trays are an interesting solution. Thanks to the lack of high thresholds, they do not overwhelm and are characterized by interesting design. Some models are just 2-3 centimeters deep. They can be embedded in the floor and barely extend above its surface.
