Bathtub Screens - Construction

Bathtub screens are essential when you opt for a bath-shower mixer, meaning you plan to take showers in the bath as well as baths. They protect us from flooding the bathroom and help maintain cleanliness and save time. Therefore, they must be built from appropriate materials.

Toughened Glass

It's obvious that products like bathtub screens must be made from robust materials that do not get damaged after the first use. This is why the main component of bathtub screens is toughened glass, a material that will not easily get damaged.

Toughening glass involves heating it to the right temperature and then cooling it with compressed air. The result of this process is that the surface layer creates tensile-compressive stresses, which significantly increase the glass's strength.

Toughened glass is much safer than regular glass because when it breaks, it shatters into larger pieces rather than small shards that can cause harm. Toughened glass has higher mechanical and thermal strength than regular glass, which is why it's used in making bathtub screens.

Aluminium

The frames of bathtub screens should be as sturdy and damage-resistant as the screens themselves. They are the structure's skeleton, so they should be well-protected against damage. If they are damaged, intervention and replacement of the frames (if possible) or the entire screen will be needed, which incurs additional costs. This is why the frames are made from aluminium, a technically pure aluminium that contains impurities depending on the production method. Aluminium is primarily derived from bauxite, a clayey sedimentary rock composed mainly of aluminium hydroxides.

Aluminium is lightweight and water-resistant. It doesn't add extra weight or wear out over time with constant contact with water. Although aluminium's strength is low, it can be reinforced as needed. It is a material that undoubtedly satisfies the needs of bathtub screen users. Light and completely water-resistant, it will serve us well for many years.

Reflex Coating

The Reflex coating was created especially for bathroom ceramics and glass fillings of shower cabins. It is also used in bathtub screens. Keeping products covered with this coating clean will not pose the slightest problem. Quite the opposite.

Thanks to innovative technology, small water droplets form larger ones and flow away, taking most dirt with them. This limits the formation of new dirt, and no special cleaning agents are needed. A cloth and sponge are enough. The Reflex coating is a component of bathtub screens that is becoming more common and is undoubtedly worth investing in.
