How to Install a Concealed WC Set?

A modern bathroom should be not only functional but also stylish and elegant. That's why more and more people are choosing to install wall-mounted WC sets that require installation on a concealed frame. This solution is suitable for both drywall and heavy-duty walls. Frames allow you to mount a toilet bowl at a height convenient for all household members.

What is a Concealed Frame Used For?

A concealed frame is a commonly used solution that allows for elegant bathroom or toilet fixtures. Thanks to it, you can take advantage of a wall-mounted toilet bowl. This allows for original room arrangements and certainly makes cleaning the toilet easier. With the frame built into the wall, you can conveniently hide all connections, drains, or plumbing pipes, leaving only the flush button on the wall. The flush tank will also be behind the wall.

It’s best to plan the installation of a concealed frame already during the bathroom construction phase; otherwise, its installation will involve a significant renovation. Fortunately, there are no restrictions on what type of wall it can be mounted on. A concealed frame can be mounted on a brick wall, a cellular concrete wall, and other types of toilet walls.

What are the Differences Between Concealed Frames?

Various types of concealed frames are available on the market, allowing for the installation of wall-mounted toilets. The simplest distinction is between concealed frames for light construction and those for heavy construction. Another common distinction is the designation of frames for dry or wet installations.

Frames for light construction, designed for drywall walls, are usually used in bathrooms that have already been finished earlier. On the other hand, the second type of frame, which is mounted directly to the building wall, is suitable for brick walls and is most often chosen for newly built rooms. This is the most important difference to remember when choosing a concealed frame for your bathroom.

What Does a Concealed WC Frame Look Like?

The most important element of any concealed frame is a solid steel structure. It is to this frame that the toilet bowl is mounted. It is secured to the wall with screws that are screwed into the appropriate places on the frame. It is worth adding that both screws and the frame itself are very durable and can support even up to 400 kg.

The entire frame is secured to the wall with screws with washers, and it is also attached to the subfloor with solid screws. When securing the frame of the concealed WC, special attention should be paid to its legs, which can be height-adjusted, allowing for convenient height adjustment of the mounted toilet bowl.

The set for both heavy and light concealed frames typically includes all necessary water connections and the flush mechanism. It often also has anti-condensation insulation, a soundproofing mat, and a flushing button. The button can be easily replaced to match the style best suited to the bathroom decor.

Installing the Concealed Frame for WC

If you have planned to install a wall-mounted toilet bowl in your bathroom, you need to remember to install the concealed frame on which it will be secured. Installing a WC frame is not particularly troublesome; however, it largely depends on the type of wall you are dealing with. In the case of light construction, meaning installation on a wall finished with drywall, there may be a need to enclose the frame. This way, you can get an additional shelf in the bathroom.

If you decide on a frame for heavy construction, it will be mounted directly to the bathroom wall and floor. The installation frame is secured to the wall with screws and expansion anchors, which will hold the entire structure and allow for safe mounting of the toilet bowl. It is equally important to secure it to the floor by screwing solid screws into the pre-drilled holes located on the legs of the concealed frame. Then, the installation frame is bricked up to ensure stability while simultaneously hiding all connection elements.

For the final enclosure of the concealed frame from the outside, any finish can be applied, including drywall or wall tiles. This way, you can create an elegant and functional arrangement for the toilet. You can install the concealed frame on which any sanitary device will be mounted.
