A rain showerhead is nowadays practically a mandatory element of modern bathroom equipment. Customers lured by its popularity are increasingly choosing this solution. Why is it worth deciding to install a rain showerhead? How does a rain showerhead work? What are the advantages of installing rain showerheads?
Operation method and advantages of modern rain showerheads
Rain showerhead is a part of the bathroom cabin equipment, constituting a more modern alternative to the shower handset. It provides a constant, even stream of water during a bath, which is wide enough to flow over the entire body and heat up faster than a traditional shower. Thanks to the internal aeration system, the water stream from the rain showerhead is dispersed, giving the impression of gentle rain, which provides the user with exceptionally pleasant and comfortable sensations. Rain showerheads have many more advantages:
- They are more convenient than a shower because you don't have to maneuver the handset. You just need to turn on the tap, expose your body to the stream of flowing water, and enjoy a relaxing bath.
- The rain showerhead works great both in a shower cabin and over a bathtub.
- Installing a rain showerhead is extremely simple.
- Rich designs allow you to choose a rain showerhead adapted to the shower cabin and complementing the bathroom style.
- A rain showerhead usually costs very affordable money, while offering great functionality at the same time.
Is installing a rain showerhead difficult?
Installing a rain showerhead is not complicated and depends on the type of device chosen. It is much easier to install surface-mounted rain showerheads intended for external construction. Built-in rain showerheads (wall or ceiling) require a bit more work, though for many, a shower rain showerhead of this type presents a slightly more appealing appearance.
- Surface-mounted rain showerheads are mounted on the wall of the shower cabin. All the fittings are connected to previously routed water points. The rain showerhead or large shower handset, hose, mixer, and all mounting components are exposed. This is especially important if an exceptionally decorative set is installed, for example, retro or in an original color.
- Built-in set requires radical renovation - breaking and replacing tiles or installing an in-wall part of the battery at the bathroom design stage. Built-in rain showerheads, wall-mounted are a permanent part of the shower cabin and are not adjustable. The rain showerhead of this type is mounted at any height, taking into account the height of the users.
- Ceiling rain showerheads are installed on a special bracket attached to the wall of the ceiling or directly in the suspended ceiling. This rain showerhead must be mounted rigidly to ensure stability and at such a height that provides everyone with a comfortable bath and comfort of using the rain showerhead.
Water flow adjustment
The desired water stream regulation is influenced by the type and size of the rain showerhead and its proper installation in the shower cabin. Large wall-mounted rain showerheads with a diameter of up to 60 cm produce a wide stream of water, so they are particularly recommended for large shower cabins. A smaller shower rain showerhead will work much better in small cabins. If the water from the rain showerhead is to flow directly into the bathtub and not flood the bathroom, a shower set with a handset with a diameter of no more than 20 cm is usually mounted on a special bracket.
All models of rain showerheads are equipped with a bubbler, which among other things, regulates water flow. Its task is to disperse the water stream by aerating it. Batteries for the most advanced rain showerhead models are equipped with special water stream regulation. The user can choose between a strong stream, a gentle mist, which works relaxing, an intense massage, and a cascade or water curtain.
On the market, there are integrated rain showerheads with a battery, for which an application was created, allowing regulation of the water stream and temperature and control of lighting and sound before stepping into the shower.
How to prevent limescale build-up?
Unsightly stains on fittings and limescale build-up not only don't add charm to the bathroom but primarily shorten the lifespan of the rain showerhead and shower handset. Manufacturers prevent limescale build-up by replacing metal protrusions with rubber nozzles. They not only don’t attract limescale but are also much easier to keep clean. Moreover, the discs of rain showerheads offered by Mexen are protected against deposits. A special layer prevents the appearance of unsightly residues, which is especially beneficial when the water in the bathroom is hard. Adequately protected, a shower rain showerhead will serve longer and maintain full functionality longer.
However, all the protections used by the manufacturer do not absolve users from taking care of the fittings, especially the battery, hose, rain showerhead, or handset. Installing a water softener and using special products regularly will make the bathroom equipment, including the rain showerhead, shine and serve for many years.
