Exterior surfaces, such as terraces, balconies, or entrance stairs, are very exposed to challenging weather conditions. Frost, rain, intense sunlight, and daily use put floor tiles to a serious test. Natural stone, although beautiful, can be demanding and prone to cracking. Mexen frost-resistant porcelain is a modern alternative – with very low water absorption and a hard structure, it does not deform, does not crack, and retains its appearance even after many seasons.

Frost-resistant porcelain in the bathroom and on the terrace

Frost-resistant porcelain for terraces, balconies, and stairs – a choice for many years

The most important feature of Mexen frost-resistant porcelain is its water absorption below 0.5%. In practice, this means that water does not penetrate the interior of the tile, so there is no risk of it expanding during freezing. Even at very low temperatures and sudden weather changes, the porcelain maintains its properties, does not deform, and does not crack. Mexen floor tiles do not require impregnation or special maintenance treatments, and cleaning is limited to using water and ordinary detergents. This is a huge saving of time and money.

Thanks to the PEI 4 abrasion class, frost-resistant porcelain is perfect for high traffic areas. Terraces, stairs, or balconies, used daily by the whole family, bicycles, or strollers – are not a problem. Our frost-resistant floor tiles do not lose color, do not dull, and retain their aesthetics even after years of use. Additionally, the glaze layer serves a dual function: it protects the surface from stains and gives it an aesthetic look, from elegant matte to the shine typical of marble-inspired models.

Frost-resistant porcelain tiles in terrace and bathroom arrangements

Aesthetics without compromises – frost-resistant porcelain in various arrangements

When choosing porcelain floor tiles, investors often worry that achieving such high resistance to external factors will come with reduced aesthetics of the product. In the case of Mexen collections, it is different. The offer includes frost-resistant porcelain inspired by marble (e.g., Viola Gold with delicate gold veining), stone (Neo Travertino Crema, perfectly combining with the greenery of the garden), or concrete (Inspira Grey, great for loft-style terrace and balcony arrangements). Thanks to tone variation V2 or V3, the surface does not look monotonous – each floor tile differs in subtle details, providing a natural effect.

The large format of 120x60 cm and rectified edges allow our frost-resistant glazed porcelain tiles to be laid with minimal grout, making the whole look like a uniform, elegant surface. This solution is appreciated in modern architecture, where consistency and simplicity matter. Bright models, like Tunisia Bianco, will brighten up a terrace or balcony, while darker ones, like Python Gold, will give them a bold, modern character. Importantly, frost-resistant glazed porcelain floor tiles work well with underfloor heating, so you can also use them in winter gardens.

Frost-resistant porcelain tiles – pay attention to this when choosing tiles!

Frost resistance is just one advantage of our floor tiles. Mexen porcelain floor tiles are also UV resistant – they do not lose color even after many seasons exposed to sunlight. The R9 anti-slip class ensures safe movement on wet surfaces, which is very important for entrance stairs or balconies. The surface of porcelain floor tiles is also resistant to scratches and mechanical damage – moving garden furniture, pots, or intense children's play does not cause permanent marks.

Thanks to the dirt resistance class 5, even tough stains on floor tiles are easily removed without the need for specialized cleaning agents. This is a big plus compared to natural stone, which quickly absorbs and requires special care products. Choosing Mexen frost-resistant porcelain means investing in a material that is both practical, durable, and beautiful. It is a solution for those who want to enjoy an aesthetically pleasing look of outdoor spaces without the need for regular renovation and additional costs.
